Virginia P. Fraser

Virginia P. Fraser, 71, of 95 Devon Road died yesterday at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield. She moved permanently to Lee in 1990. She was a descendant of Elisha Crocker, who settled in Lee in 1774, three years before the town was incorporated. Born in Orange, N.J., on June 8, 1933, daughter of George F. and Dorothy B. Bennett Perkins, she was a 1951 graduate of the Beard School for Girls, where she excelled in athletics and was president of the Beard School Association in her senior year. She later attended Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley. After moving to Short Hills, N.J., in 1953, Mrs. Fraser taught in the Glenwood and Millburn school systems. She was a past member and president of the Junior League of Short Hills and the Oranges, and was a member of the Colonial Dames of America. She leaves her husband, John A. Fraser Sr., whom she married Aug. 22, 1953; two sons, John A. Fraser Jr. of Birmingham, Mich., and George P. Fraser of Gross Point Shores, Mich.; three daughters, Pamela F. Carpenter of St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, Linda F. Danielovich of Center Sandwich, N.H., and Virginia F. Fiorilli of Springfield, N.J.; a sister, Dorothy P. Fraser of Lee, and 11 grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Memorial Service for Virginia P. Fraser, who died Oct. 14, 2004, will be Monday, Oct. 18, at 11 at the First Congregational Church in Lee with the Rev. Bert W. Marshall, pastor, officiating. There will be no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the First Congregational Church in care of the KELLY FUNERAL HOME, 3 Main St., Lee, MA 01238. Virginia loved the time she could spend with her children and grandchildren.
