Joan F. Hyndman, 74

ADAMS, Mass. — Joan Frances Hyndman, 74, of 281 West Road, died Thursday morning, Oct. 21, 2004, at Craneville Place in Dalton after a long battle with diabetes.
Born in Adams on June 6, 1930, daughter of Joseph and Viola Taft Horn, she was a 1948 graduate of the former Adams High School. She attended Berkshire Community College in Pittsfield to complete class work in computer technology.
Mrs. Hyndman was employed by the former Kmart in North Adams as manager of the ladies' wear department, retiring in 1994. She received numerous awards for her management skills. She also owned and operated the Candle Shop with her sister, Beverly Reagan, for several years and worked at the former Sprague Electric Co. in North Adams for several years.
She enjoyed photography, candle making, arts and crafts, traveling and taking walks at Greylock Glen.
She and her husband, David C. "Mickey" Hyndman, were married May 7, 1955.
Besides her husband and sister, of North Carolina, she leaves two daughters, Suzan Hyndman and Stella Hyndman and her companion, James Fredette, all of Adams; two brothers, Harry Horn and his wife, Margie, and Thomas Horn, all of Adams, and three grandchildren, Danyelle, David and Dominique Hyndman.
Her brother, Charles Horn, died in 1992, and her sister, Bertha Horn, in 1986. She was also predeceased by her sister-in-law Betty Horn.
FUNERAL NOTICE — The funeral for Mrs. Hyndman will be Wednesday, Oct. 27, at 11 at AUGE-PACIOREK-SIMMONS FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St., Adams. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 10 to 11.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association through the funeral home.
