David Edward "Sonny" Lescarbeau

David Edward "Sonny" Lescarbeau, 75, of 15 Hudson St. died Monday evening at his home following a long battle with cancer. Born in North Adams on Dec. 4, 1929, son of Edward J. and Emaline Delia Lord Lescarbeau, he was educated in North Adams schools. He was an eight-year veteran of the Massachusetts National Guard. Mr. Lescarbeau was employed as master carpenter by Eric and Barbara Rudd for the renovation of the Contemporary Artists Center on Beaver Street and the Flat Iron Building on Eagle Street. He began his career as a carpenter with his father and later was a self-employed carpenter for several construction firms in Berkshire County. He was a communicant of Notre Dame Church. A life member of the Greylock Community Club, he also was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and enjoyed socializing at the American Legion Post 125. He was a musician, specializing in guitar, banjo and drums, and was lead singer with his bands, Sonny and the Deltones and Sonny's Combos. He leaves a son, Thomas Lescarbeau of North Adams, with whom he resided; a daughter, Diane Lescarbeau of Adams; four sisters, Erma Foster and Theresa Grieger, both of North Adams, Emaline I. Goddard of Clarksburg and Bernadette M. Aubin of Stamford, Vt.; seven brothers, Donald R. Lescarbeau, Louis C. Lescarbeau, Leon C. Lescarbeau, Norman J. Lescarbeau, Harold J. Lescarbeau, Howard J. Lescarbeau and Henry W. Lescarbeau, all of North Adams, and six grandchildren. Another son, David Paul Lescarbeau, died June 1, 1984. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for David E. "Sonny" Lescarbeau, who died April 18, 2005, will take place Saturday, April 23, at 10 at FLYNN AND DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 at St. Francis of Assisi Church, North Adams. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery, North Adams. Calling hours at the funeral home will be tomorrow, April 22, from 4 to 8. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested for VNA and Hospice of Northern Berkshire through the funeral home. His best enjoyment was being a devoted father, grandfather and brother for his family with cooking and socializing. He was the eldest of 16 children. Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Lanie Sumner Lescarbeau; his longtime companion and friend Lorena Williams Manns of North Adams; his grandchildren, Kevin Lescarbeau, Beau Lescarbeau, Tara Lescarbeau, Heidi Lescarbeau, Brodie Lescarbeau and Jaelyn Lescarbeau. He was predeceased by four brothers, Edward E. Lescarbeau, Felix E. Lescarbeau, Lawrence Lescarbeau and Richard Lescarbeau.
