Francis E. St. Peter

Francis E. St. Peter, 69, of 2 Cherry Bounce Lane died yesterday at home. Born in Pittsfield on April 10, 1936, son of Pearl Goodrich St. Peter and the late Ernest "Pat" St. Peter, he was a 1955 graduate of St. Joseph's High School. He earned a bachelor's degree in education from the former North Adams State College, now Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts, a master's degree from the University of New Hampshire and a doctor of philosophy degree from the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley. He was an Army veteran. Mr. St. Peter was first employed by the Colorado School for the Deaf and Blind. He then was director of special education for the Greenwich (Conn.) School System for 11 years and director of pupil personnel services for the Berkshire Regional School District for 19 years, retiring in 2000. He was a communicant of St. Charles' Church in Pittsfield and of St. Joseph's Church in Stockbridge. A hunter and fisherman, he was a member of the Stockbridge Sportsmen's Club. He was also a member of the Berkshire County Deputy Sheriff's Association and enjoyed history, playing poker and cooking. He and his wife, the former Aniela Marcinczyk, would have celebrated their 37th wedding anniversary Aug. 17. They were married in Holy Family Church. Besides his wife and mother, of Pittsfield, he leaves two sons, Jason St. Peter of Stockbridge and David St. Peter of Pittsfield; a daughter, Stephanie Cathers of Lakewood, Colo.; a brother, Ernest St. Peter of Pittsfield, and a granddaughter. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Dr. Francis E. St. Peter, 69, died Monday at home. Beloved grandfather to Trinity Rose Cathers and father-in-law to Justin Cathers and Christa St. Peter. The funeral will be Thursday, Aug. 11, 2005, at 9 from DWYER FUNERAL HOME, 776 North St., Pittsfield, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at St. Charles' Church, Pittsfield. Burial will be at a later date in Stockbridge Cemetery. Calling hours will be Wednesday, Aug. 10, from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. He was predeceased by a sister, Marie Gallagher. If friends desire, memorial donations may be made to St. Charles' Church or the Lee Volunteer Ambulance. He enjoyed hunting throughout the Berkshires with his sons and spending time with family and friends.
