Roger S. Styczynski Sr., 63
ADAMS, Mass. â€' Roger Stanislaus Styczynski, Sr., 63, of 32 North Summer St. died Thursday morning, Nov. 10, 2005, at North Adams Regional Hospital.
Born in North Adams on Feb. 5, 1942, son of Rita Roy Styczynski and the late Frank S. Styczynski, he attended North Adams schools, graduating from the former St. Joseph High School. He lived in Adams for the past 40 years.
He served with the Massachusetts National Guard unit at the North Adams Armory.
Mr. Styczynski was a security guard at North Adams Regional Hospital. He also drove a school bus in Adams for over 30 years, first for the former E. W. DeGere Transportation, then for Dufour Transportation. He first worked in the power transformer division of GE for 29 years, retiring in 1991.
He was a communicant of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church and was a past president of the St. Stanislaus School Parent-Teacher Group.
He was a member of the Polish National Alliance and had been a director of the former Adams Bakery Association. He enjoyed woodworking and riding his motorcycle.
Mr. Styczynski played accordion on a radio polka program many years ago. He also operated his own studio where he taught accordion for several years.
He and his wife, the former Marilyn A. Koczela, were married May 28, 1966.
Besides his wife and mother, of North Adams, he leaves two sons, Derek Styczynski and his wife, Carman, of Harrisburg, Pa., and Roger Styczynski, Jr., of North Adams; one daughter, Kimberly Pfeffer and her husband, John, of Allentown, Pa.; four grandchildren, Kristine, Kara, Christopher and Crystal Styczynski, all of Harrisburg; three foster grandchildren, Jalissa, Arianna and Angela, all of Allentown; his mother-in-law, Eileen Cyr Koczela of Corona, Calif., and several nieces and nephews.
FUNERAL NOTICE â€' The funeral for Roger S. Styczynski Sr., will be Monday, Nov. 14, at 9 a.m. from AUGE-PACIOREK-SIMMONS Funeral Home, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, with the Rev. James F. McAndrews, SJ, officiating. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Kostka Cemetery.
