Frederick K. Bressette

Frederick K. Bressette, 83, of Sagamore Beach, died Wednesday at Jordan Hospital in Plymouth. He taught at Drury High School for 10 years and was a professor at the former North Adams State College for 27 years. Born in North Adams on March 11, 1923, he attended local schools and received his bachelor's degree in education from NASC in 1946. He also earned a master's degree and his doctorate from Columbia University. He was a veteran of the Army Air Corps. Mr. Bressette was a founder of The Theatre and the Harlequin Society at NASC. He directed and performed in more than 100 plays, including many at Williamstown Theatre Festival, Oldcastle Theatre Company in Bennington, Vt., Seacoast Repertory Theater in Portsmouth, N.H., and Durham Stage in Durham, N.H. After his retirement in 1984, he relocated to York Beach, Maine, where he lived until moving to Sagamore Beach in 1998. He was active in TV commercials, print work and films, including "The Crucible," "Amistad," "State and Main," "Prozac Nation" and "Developing Sheldon." He was a member of the Screen Actors Guild and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists. He and his wife, the former Martha Lundblad, were married in 1960. Besides his wife, he leaves a daughter, Melissa Fountain of South Lee; a son, Christopher Bressette of Sagamore Beach, and three grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Visiting hours for Frederick K. Bressette, who died Wednesday, March 15, 2006, will be tomorrow from 1 to 5 p.m. at NICKERSON-BOURNE FUNERAL HOME, 154 Route 6A, Sandwich. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 11 at Corpus Christi Parish, 324 Quaker Meetinghouse Road, East Sandwich. A graveside service and burial will be conducted in Southview Cemetery, North Adams, on Wednesday, March 22, at 1. He also leaves his son-in-law, Michael Fountain; his daughter-in-law, Noreen Bressette, and three grandchildren, Benjamin, Bridget and Georgia Bressette.

Incredulous am I that after all these years there has been no one else to post reflections on Freddie B. who, notwithstanding his aspirations, devoted time to inspire and encourage his students.
