Wilson Hopper Kierstead

Wilson Hopper Kierstead, 88, of New York City and Jerusalem Road in Tyringham died at his home in New York on Sunday, April 2, of a thoracic aneurysm. Born on March 6, 1918, son of Wilson Hopper and Harte Marvin Kierstead, he graduated from Wesleyan University in 1940 and Macy's Training Squad. A veteran of World War II, he served as a naval intelligence officer secunded to the British Royal Navy. He worked in advertising at Young & Rubicam for 27 years in various positions until retiring in 1975. After the war, he had returned to Macy's, and had worked as a wine buyer for several years. Following his retirement, he served as a consultant to various institutions, including Metropolitan Life, R.J. Reynolds and the New York Botanical Garden. He is survived by his widow, Mary "D" Devereux Rudd ; two sons, Cornelius Rudd and Nicholas Edward ; his sister, Elisabeth Viken, and his brother Marvin . FUNERAL NOTICE -- Burial for Wilson Hopper Kierstead, who died on Sunday, April 2, 2006, will be held in Tyringham Cemetery on April 22 at 3 p.m. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Berkshire Botanical Garden, Route 102, Stockbridge, MA 01262. He also leaves his grandchildren, Sophia, Willem and Hopper.
