Henrietta Ryan

Henrietta Ryan, 85, of the Holly House Apartments died Thursday morning at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield. Born Oct. 31, 1920, in Ridgewood, Queens, N.Y., daughter of Otto and Emma Fluhr Siedentopf, her family moved to Richmond Hills, Queens, and was educated in New York City schools. Prior to her marriage, she was an executive secretary for several social agencies in New York, including the National Council of Churches. She moved to Detroit with her husband, a minister, in the late 1950s, to Pittsfield in 1961 and finally settled in Lee in 1968 where her husband was pastor of the First Congregational Church. Mrs. Ryan was a member of the First Congregational Church in Lee, serving as its treasurer for 20 years, and also was a member of the women's fellowship. She was a volunteer for the American Red cross, the Berkshire Medical Center and the Salvation Army. She also was a member of the Tuesday Club of Stockbridge. She enjoyed gardening and taking trips to Ogunquit, Maine. Her husband, the Rev. Walter Ryan, whom she married on Aug. 17, 1957, died Sept. 16, 1995. She leaves two sons, David W. Ryan of Lee and Peter S. Ryan of Pittsfield; two grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Funeral services for Henrietta Ryan, who died April 5, 2006, will be held on Monday at 10 a.m. at the First Congregational Church in Lee with the Rev. Bert W. Marshall, pastor, and the Rev. John McKinstry, retired, officiating. Burial will follow in Fairmount Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Sunday afternoon from 3 to 6 p.m. at KELLY FUNERAL HOME in Lee. Friends wishing may make donations to the First Congregational Church in Lee in care of the funeral home, 3 Main St., Lee, MA 01238. She leaves her grandchildren, Natasha and Christy; her great-grandchildren, Samantha and Alexandra; her daughter-in-law Paula, and several cousins, nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by two special cousins, Herbert Weiler and Howard Fluhr. Her greatest joy in life was her family and her cats.
