Robert Gordon Fleury Jr., 79, of Sisson Hill Road, Mill River, died Sunday at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on Nov. 29, 1926, son of Robert Gordon Fleury Sr. and Louise Flohn Fleury, he attended schools there and studied at Pratt Institute School of Art and Design in New York City. An Army veteran of World War II, he served from 1945 to 1946 and received several campaign medals. An architectural designer, Mr. Fleury specialized in residential homes, including architecturally sensitive restorations and additions, in his practice in the Berkshires. A film buff, he made an appearance in a short picture about the 3rd Avenue El train in New York in 1955, just before the historic elevated railway was demolished. He also helped renovate the first building of Hawthorne Valley School in Ghent, N.Y. He and his wife, the former Anita Ruth Kaufmann, would have celebrated their 42nd wedding anniversary June 28.. Besides his wife, he leaves two sons, Mattais Fleury of Hartford, Conn., and Jared Fleury of Clarkesville, Ga.; a daughter Laura Fleury-Belman of Portland, Ore., and a granddaughter.
