Andrew William LeBeau

Andrew William LeBeau, 86, of 94 Reed St. died Wednesday evening at the Vermont Veterans' Home in Bennington, Vt. Born in Adams on June 13, 1920, son of the late Moses LeBeau and Azilda LaFrance LeBeau, he attended schools in Adams, including the former Notre Dame Parochial School, and graduated from the former Adams High School in 1938. A World War II veteran of the U.S. Army, he served in the European Theater of Operations from Feb. 23, 1942, until his honorable discharge with the rank of tech sergeant on Nov. 11, 1945. He participated in the Sicilian and Naples/Foggia campaigns and received the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Ribbon with a Bronze Service Arrowhead. He was last employed at Williams College in its dining services department until his retirement in 1982. Prior to that, he was employed by the former LL Brown Paper Co. in Adams for 33 years until the company ceased operations. Mr. LeBeau was a communicant of Notre Dame Church in North Adams. He enjoyed golf, gardening, and woodworking. He was a member of the American Legion Post 160 in Adams. He leaves his wife, the former Claire Helen Rousselle, whom he married on Jan. 31, 1942 in Notre Dame Church in North Adams. In addition to his wife, he leaves a daughter, Susan Jowett of North Adams; two sons, David LeBeau of Adams and Douglas LeBeau of Cross River, N.Y.; seven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Funeral service for Andrew LeBeau, who died June 21, 2006, will be held Saturday morning, June 24, at 8:15 a.m. at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS - CENTRAL CHAPELS, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, followed by a Funeral Mass at 9 a.m. at Our Lady of Mercy Church. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association in care of the funeral home, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, 01247. He leaves seven grandchildren, Karen Spiewak of Framingham, Christy Sartori of Clarksburg; Scott LeBeau of Cheshire; Amanda LeBeau and Nicole LeBeau, both of Adams, Tracy LeBeau of Wilton, Conn., and Jay LeBeau of Greenfield, and four great-grandchildren, Elex, Jordan, Nathan, and Brennan; a daughter-in-law, Michele LeBeau, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by five brothers and two sisters, Moses, Leo, Lawrence, Joseph, and Roy LeBeau, and Beatrice Davis and Olive Rymarski.
