Walter Bieniek

Walter Bieniek, 88, formerly of 66 Park St., died Saturday at Sweet Brook Care Centers in Williamstown. Born in Savoy on Oct. 1, 1917, son of Kazimierz and Katarzyna Glowacki Bieniek, he moved to Adams as a child and graduated from the former Adams High School in 1936. After graduation, Mr. Bieniek and his partner, Rupert Wood, operated an electronics repair business for several years. An Army veteran of World War II, he served as a marine electronics instructor. He established the former Bieniek Electronics on Park Street after his military service, operating it for more than 50 years. He retired in 1993. He was a communicant of the Parish of Notre Dame-St. Thomas and a member of Adams Post 160 American Legion. He was a former member of the Adams Lodge of Elks, the Adams Lions Club and the former Adams Chamber of Commerce. He was a former electronics consultant to Charles H. McCann Technical High School in North Adams. His wife, the former Jeannette Roberts, whom he married Jan. 31, 1942, died March 1, 2001. He leaves three sons, David Bieniek of Pittsfield, Richard Bieniek of Lanesborough and Aaron Bieniek of Adams; two daughters, Marilyn Moran of Adams and Robin Anish of Lenox; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Walter Bieniek, who died Saturday, Sept. 30, 2006, will be Wednesday, Oct. 4, at 9 from TROTTIER-PRINGLE FUNERAL HOME, 6 Summer St., Adams, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at Notre Dame Church in Adams celebrated by the Rev. Daniel J. Boyle, pastor of the Catholic Community of Adams. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery in Adams. Calling hours at the funeral home will be tomorrow from 4 to 7. He also leaves nine grandchildren, Kevin, Scott and Colin Moran, Kimberly Gorman, Jennifer Belanger, Damon and Bryan Bieniek, and Erin and Matthew Anish; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Lawrence Bieniek, and by two sisters, Julie Paczosa and Lucy Gai.
