Claude S. Marks

Claude S. Marks, 74, of North Street in Housatonic, died Monday morning at Fairview Hospital. Born in Sharon, Conn. on July 27, 1932, son of Claude S. Marks, Sr. and Grace Ball Marks, he attended Salisbury (Conn.) Central School. He moved to Housatonic in 1960. A Korean War veteran, Mr. Marks served in the Army until being honorably discharged on Jan. 31, 1961. He worked as a machinist at the former Kimberly Clarke in Lee for many years until retiring in the early 1980s. Prior to that, he spent several years working as a stonemason. Mr. Marks was a fan of sports -- especially the Dodgers -- and enjoyed watching NASCAR. He leaves his wife, the former Beverly Henry, whom he married on Sept. 17, 1960, at the Housatonic Congregational Church. He also leaves three sons, Brian Marks of Great Barrington, Scott Marks of Mesa, Ariz. and Dennis Marks of Cambridge, N.Y.; three brothers, Peter Marks of Clayton, Robert Marks of Lakeville, Conn., and David Marks of Canaan, Conn; a sister, Barbara Roraback of Salisbury, Conn.; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his son Glenn, who died in 1995. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Funeral services for the late Claude S. Marks of Housatonic, who died Monday, Oct. 16, 2006, will be held on Friday, Oct. 20, at 11 a.m. at FINNERTY AND STEVENS FUNERAL HOME, Great Barrington. Burial will follow at Salisbury Cemetery in Salisbury, Conn. The family will receive friends on Thursday, Oct. 19, 2006, from 3 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Donations in his memory may be made to the Claude S. Marks Memorial Fund through the funeral home, 426 Main St., Great Barrington, MA 01230. He was predeceased by a brother, Alan Marks.
