Karla Ann Procopio

Karla Ann Procopio, 39, of 567 South Main St. died Monday at Berkshire Medical Center after a long illness. Born in Pittsfield on Jan. 30, 1967, daughter of the late Salvatore J. "Sal" Procopio and Patricia A. Carnute Procopio Fields, she attended Pittsfield schools and graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1985. She also attended Berkshire Community College. At the time of her death, she was employed by Pittsfield YMCA as director of supervised visits, and worked closely with the Department of Social Services. She also worked as child care director, youth camp director and group team leader for the YMCA. She enjoyed traveling and reading. She leaves four brothers, Marc A. Procopio of Otis, Mario F. and Paul J. Procopio, both of Pittsfield, and Leonard J. Fields Jr. of North Adams, and her paternal grandmother, Angelina Becker of Pittsfield. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Karla Ann Procopio, who died Monday, Jan. 1, 2007, will take place Friday at 9 a.m. from FLYNN & DAGNOLI-BENCIVENGA FUNERAL HOME, 5 Elm St. Pittsfield. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. at Mount Carmel Church by the Rev. Geoffrey J. Deeker CSS, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to either the Pittsfield YMCA Reach Out For Youth Program or Hospice Care in the Berkshires, care of the funeral home. She also leaves two nieces, Renee L. and Athena Procopio; four nephews, Paul J. Procopio Jr., Mario Procopio Jr., Rocco Procopio and Anthony Aceto; and several aunts and uncles. Karla enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She loved her home and enjoyed being an advocate for her beloved local children.
