Frank Stanley Kruzel

Frank Stanley Kruzel, 94, of 86 North Summer St., died yesterday at home. Born in the town of Florida on Sept. 21, 1912, son of Matthew and Helen Meczywor Kruzel, he attended schools in Adams. A self-employed carpenter, Mr. Kruzel worked from the age of 14 until his death. He first worked with his father and, for the past 37 years, worked with his son and grandsons, who own Kruzel Builders. During World War II, he was employed by the former Adams Laundry running the boilers. He was a communicant of St. Stanislaus' Church and a member of its St. Stanislaus Kostka Society, and a former member of the former Adams Sportsmen's Club. Mr. Kruzel did many carpentry jobs for St. Stanislaus' parish and, in 2002, he received a "Master Carpenter Award" from the Rev. John Chwalek, former pastor. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, mushrooming, apple and blueberry picking, and antique cars. His wife, the former Emilia Dziegiel, whom he married Sept. 24, 1935, died April 14, 2000. He leaves a son, Francis Kruzel of Adams; a daughter, Frances DePorter of Oakton, Va.; a brother, Matthew Kruzel of Cheshire; three sisters, Mildred Matuszak, Monica Cyrulik and Bina Nazzewski, all of Adams; and eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a daughter, Theresa Marszalek, on April 6, 2002. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Frank Stanley Kruzel, who died Monday, June 4, 2007, will be Thursday June 7, at 9 a.m. from PACIOREK FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St., Adams, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Adams. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus' Cemetery. Calling hours will be tomorrow from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to St. Stanislaus' Church or School, the Adams Ambulance Service, or the VNA & Hospice of Northern Berkshire, through the funeral home. He also leaves a daughter-in-law, Nancy Kruzel of Adams; two sons-in-law, Michael DePorter and Leo Marszalek of Adams; eight grandchildren, Diana Meckin of Ware, Paul Marszalek of Adams, Maria Ziemba of Adams, Steven and Joseph DePorter, and Sharon Ennis, all of Oakton, Va., and Mark and Scott Kruzel, both of Adam; and 11 great -grandchildren. He was predeceased by a sister, Blanche Nazzewski, and by three brothers-in-law, Walter, Teddy and Adolph Dziegiel.
