Mary T. Malcovsky

Mary T. Malcovsky, 97, of 40 South Bay Road, East Otis, died Wednesday at Harborside Health Care in Westfield. Born in Southwick on July 7, 1910, son of Blaze J. and Teresa Andras Kriesak, she was a 1928 graduate of Westfield High School. Mrs. Malcovsky was employed by the former Peck Lumber Co. and, later, was a secretary at Stanley Home Products in Westfield and Easthampton, retiring in 1965 to care for her mother. She was a communicant of St. Peter's Church in Westfield and a member of its Rosary Sodality. She enjoyed gardening, reading and watching her favorite television shows. Her husband, George Malcovsky, is deceased. She leaves her caregiver and great-niece, Joanna Saloomey-Bailey, with whom she shared a home for 10 years. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Mary T. Malcovsky, who died Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2007, will be Saturday, Dec. 22, 2007, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Peter's Church, 22 State St., Westfield, with burial following in St. Mary's Cemetery, Westfield. Calling hours will be Saturday from 9 to 10 a.m. at SOUTHWICK FORASTIERE FUNERAL HOME, 624 College Highway, Southwick. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Sisters of St. Basil the Great Retirement Fund, in care of Sister Christopher Malcovsky, 8141 North 16th St., #27, Phoenix, AR 85020-3961. Mrs. Malcovsky also leaves her great-niece's husband, William Bailey, and their children, Darby Quinn, Keelin Ryan and Riley Katheryn Bailey, all of East Otis; niece Carole Saloomey and husband, Ziter S. Saloomey, and nephew John J. Schoenrock and wife, Susan, all of East Otis; niece Katheryn Burkott-Koczacek of Westfield; nephew James Burkott of Connecticut; her dear great-nieces and -nephews who lived close by and were part of her everyday life, Tammy Saloomey-Tavernia and husband, Lee Tavernia, Amy Saloomey-Scarpa and husband, David Scarpa, Sara Saloomey-Loring and husband, Anthony Loring, Star Saloomey-O'Brien and husband, Michael O'Brien, all of East Otis. She also leaves other great-great-nieces and -nephews who also brought much joy and excitement to her everyday life, Blaze and Baylee Tavernia, Isabella and Sophia Scarpa, Erin and Jack O'Brien, and Megan Mary, Charles Joseph and William Ziter, all of East Otis. Mary also leaves her sisters-in-law, Edna Kriesak and Katherine Malcovsky of Westfield, and Sister Christopher Malcovsky of the Sisters of St. Basil the Great in Phoenix. She also leaves many nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends and neighbors, including former neighbor Ada M. Eades, now of Ruskin, Fla. The oldest of seven children, Mary was predeceased by sisters Ann, Eva and Katheryn Kriesak, Evelyn Burkott and Katheryn Schoenrock, and by her brother, John P. Kriesak.
