John M. Sullivan, 66
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — John Millard Sullivan, 66, of 1029 State Road died Thursday, Dec. 15, 2011, at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield after losing his long, courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Great Barrington on June 30, 1945, a son of Joseph and Alice VanVaulkenburg Sullivan, he graduated from Staatsburg (N.Y.) Union Free High School.
Mr. Sullivan was employed for many years for New York State as a narcotics officer and later as a corrections officer. He last worked for Trans-Eastern Home Construction Co. in Palm Beach County, Florida.
He was a communicant of St. Patrick & Raphael's Parish. He loved spending time with his family and was a loving, caring and devoted husband, father and grandfather, "PaPa," for which he was ever so grateful to have a family to love and cherish then, now and always forever.
He and his wife, the former Kathleen Watts, weere married Aug. 10, 1968.
Besides his loving wife of 43 years, he leaves two daughters, Deborah Ann Sullivan Guiden and her husband, James, of Williamstown and Kimberly Ann Sullivan Perry and her husband, Bryan, of North Adams; a son, John Millard Sullivan Jr. and his wife, Christina, of Orlando, Fla.; three brothers, his twin, Joseph Sullivan, of Livingston, N.Y., James Sullivan and his wife, Merle, of Staatsburg and and Dennis Sullivan and his wife, Rita, of Tivoli, N.Y.; two sisters, Sister Patricia Sullivan, of the Order of Preachers, of Beacon, N.Y., and Judith Devine and her husband, James, of Poughkeepsie, N.Y.; four grandchildren, whom he loved dearly, James A. Guiden II and Andrew, Elaina Mae and Liam Carr Sullivan, and nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
FUNERAL NOTICE — A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Mr. Sullivan will be celebrated Monday, Dec. 19, at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church in Williamstown. Burial will follow in Southlawn Cemetery, Williamstown.
Calling hours will be Sunday, Dec. 18, from 2 to 5 at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested for the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Research Center in Tampa, Fla., through the funeral home.
