CHESHIRE, Mass. -- Mia Gale assisted on the tying goal and scored the winning goal Monday as the Hoosac Valley girls soccer team earned a 2-1 win over Mount Greylock.

"It was nice to be on the winning side of the column," Hoosac Valley coach Kathy Budaj said. "The girls just kept plugging away. We have been having a whole lot of trouble putting the ball in the net. It is a great feeling to see them come off the field happy with a win."

Mount Greylock's Karen McComish scored in the first half to give the Mounties the lead.

In the second, Gale set up Grace Kronick for the equalizer before scoring the game-winner unassisted.

"Mia Gale served up so many balls today, and no one could seem to get the final touch on it into the net until Grace Kronick found one," Budaj said. "Then Mia had a beautiful shot to give us the win.

"Both keepers made a couple of fantasitc saves to keep it close."

Kelsey Bulson made five saves to earn the win.

Isabella Nicastro stopped 12 shots for Mount Greylock (4-4-1), which hosts Lenox on Thursday.

Hoosac Valley (2-4-1) goes to Lee on Thursday.
