CHESHIRE, Mass. -- The Belchertown girls soccer team exploded for five goals in the second half to earn an 8-2 win over Hoosac Valley on Monday.

Avery Klingensmith had two goals and two assists for the Orioles, who led, 3-2, at half-time.

“Tough game today,” Hoosac Valley coach Kathy Budaj said. “Belchertown was fast and some very nice ball skills. We hung tough in the first half, but in the second half, we were not able to keep up with their speed and depth from the bench.”

Riley Robinson and Grace Kronick each scored a goal for the Hurricanes (1-1), who got nine saves from Gabby Billetz and three from Emily Godfrey.

Hoosac Valley Tuesday goes to Monument Mountain.
