SHEFFIELD, Mass. – Kayleigh Davis scored the game-winner with about 25 minutes left in the second half as the Monument Mountain girls soccer team defeated Mount Everett, 2-0, on Saturday.

Iris Firth added a goal in the final minute for the Spartans (1-1-1).

“Score and shots would tell anyone it was a different game than what was going on the field,” Mount Everett coach Joshua King said. “Both teams had a ton of energy for this game, some great opportunities by both squads but Monument was able to capitalize on them.”

Emma Goewey made 21 saves for Mount Everett, which had some players banged up on Saturday.

Emily Mead and Alex Tenney combined to stop nine shots for Monument Mountain.

The Spartans host Southwick on Wednesday.

The Eagles (1-2) host Hampden Charter on Monday.
