SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Taconic volleyball team is giving fans their money’s worth this fall.

For the fourth time in a row on Friday, the Thunder went to a fifth set, and for the second time in a row, it came out on the winning end, beating Baystate Academy, 3-2, on Friday.

Sophie Aubin pulled up 28 digs in a 22-25, 25-17, 19-25, 25-21, 15-11 victory.

“We would love to be able to win in three or four as that would help our ranking more than five-set wins do, but looking on the bright side, we are getting lots of practice winning the shorter fifth set in a higher pressure situation playing only to 15,” Taconic coach Lance Fyfe said.

Ella Stodden had a big defensive night as well with 18 digs and passed out 40 assists while accounting for four kills and four aces.

Angelese Ward-Green had a season-high 16 kills and notched four blocks.

Gracie Cormier and Aurora Rose-DiMarco finished with nine and seven kills, respectively.

On Wednesday, Taconic mounted huge comeback in a win at Mount Greylock. Friday's five-set win came against the program that beat the Mounties in last year's Division 5 State Quarter-Finals.

Taconic (4-5) goes to Ludlow on Monday.
