DALTON, Mass. -- Wahconah golf coach Pete Terpak could not say enough about his team's performance in Saturday's tri-match at Wahconah Country Club.

"It's exciting," the veteran coach said. "I'm glad we're just playing golf, but 161 is tremendous. We haven't put up scores like that since 2010 when we went 15-0.

"It's been a long time coming to see this come about again. I'm happy."

Pat McLaughlin carded a 3-over 38 on the front nine at WCC to tie for medalist honors with Monument Mountain's Bradley Danyluk.

Wahconah went 2-0 on the day, picking up wins over Danyluk's Spartans (161-174) and Mount Everett (161-205).

McLaughlin's day was highlighted by a birdie on the 300-yard, par 4 fourth hole.

He picked up his third medal in three days and nearly pulled out an outright individual win on the final hole.

"Patrick continued to play well," Terpak said. "He three-putted here on nine for a 38. He had a chance for 36. He's been very, very structured. The sky's the limit for that guy."

Joining McLaughlin in the first group on Saturday was Wahconah captain Dan Wilson, who finished one off the lead with a 39 that included a birdie on the 500-yard, par 5 seventh hole.

Wahconah's scoring was rounded out by Cam Lewis (41) and Kevin Esko (43). Esko accounted for his team's third birdie of the afternoon, dropping in a 7-foot putt on the 151-yard, par 3 sixth hole.

It was a day for birdies as the 18-player field beat par seven times with players on each team putting up a red number.

Danyluk finished with a birdie on the 388-yard, par 5 ninth hole to secure a share of the lead.

His teammate, Jackson Blanchard, birdied twice: on the fourth and the seventh.

No. 4 was a popular spot for birdies as Mount Everett's Jacob Tenbroeck did the trick there as well.

Cooper Rothvoss led the Eagles with a 46, three ahead of teammate Tenbroeck.

All six Monument Mountain players finished in the 40s or better.
