Mounties Outduel Millionaires in Boys, Girls XC
DALTON, Mass. – The Mount Greylock girls and boys cross country teams each edged Lenox in their first dual meets of the season on Thursday at Wahconah Regional High School.
Riley Mae Dickinson led six Mounties in the top 10 as they pulled out a 28-31 win over the Millionaires.
Dickinson placed third overall, finishing in 20 minutes, 45 seconds.
Lenox held down the top two spots, with Gianna Love capturing first in 20:30 and Nora Schoeny in second, two seconds ahead of Dickinson.
But Cornelia Swabey, Josephine Bay, Adriana Carsone and Ani Koamaya joined Dickinson in scoring for Mount Greylock, as it stayed undefeated this fall and picked up three dual meet wins while handing Lenox its first loss.
The Mount Greylock boys also stayed unbeaten and knocked off previously unbeaten Lenox, edging the Millionaires, 25-30.
Patrick Holland, Luke Irwin, Finnegan Voisin and Andrew Holland each placed in the top 10 for Mount Greylock, and Benjamin Mandel rounded out the scoring, placing 11th in the five-team field.
Lenox was led by Ben Harwood, who placed second overall with a time of 17:05, 14 seconds behind top finisher Cohen Zahn of Pittsfield.
Lenox’s boys went 2-1 on the day, picking up dual wins against Wahconah and Monument Mountain.
Wahconah’s boys also were 2-1 on their home course. Lake Kittler placed fifth overall to lead his team past Pittsfield and Monument Mountain.
In the girls meet, Lenox went 2-1, defeating Wahconah and Monument Mountain.
The Spartan girls, who also beat Wahconah, were led by Anna Desilets, who finished seventh overall, the first finisher not from Lenox or Mount Greylock.
Pittsfield’s girls won their only dual matchup, edging Wahconah behind Sophia Lamalfa, who finished 16th.
