Mount Greylock Boys, Girls Off to Strong Start in Nordic Season

GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. – Lauren Miller and Josephine Bay placed 1-2 on Tuesday at Ski Butternut to lead the Mount Greylock girls Nordic ski team to its second straight first-place finish to start the season in the Berkshire County League.
 
Miller finished in 19 minutes, 28 seconds under the lights. Bay was 28 seconds behind her and 44 seconds ahead of third-place Ada Comer of Mohawk Trail.
 
Lenox, which missed the season opener, placed second in the girls race behind Jane Elliot’s third-place finish.
 
Mount Greylock and Wahconah finished 1-2 in the boys team race.
 
Wahconah’s Beau Sanders paced the field with a time of 15:29.
 
Mount Greylock’s Benjamin Mandel finished 28 seconds behind, the first of three Mounties in the top five.
 
Lenox’s boys debuted with a third-place team finish. Everett Shepardson and William Keefe placed seventh and eighth, respectively, for the Millionaires.
 
The league returns to action on Monday morning at Notchview Reservation.
