Mount Greylock Girls, Boys Have Big Day in Pittsfield

PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- Mount Greylock senior Emily Lescarbeau finished first in Wednesday’s cross country meet at Reid Middle School.
 
Lescarbeau finished in 21 minutes, 50 seconds, setting a mile pace of 7:01, to lead six Mounties in the top 10.
 
A Mount Greylock runner also won the boys race as Evan Arthur won in 17:15.
 
Lescarbeua’s teammate and classmate Niku Darafshi finished second on the girls side in 22:10. Mount Greylock’s Emma Polumbo, Josie Smith, Hannah Locklear and Miriam Bakija were fourth through seventh, respectively.
 
Pittsfield’s Lessley Columna (22:11) broke up the Mount Greylock hold on the top seven places by finishing third. The Generals also took places eight through 12 led by Julia Jacobsson, Cassidy Sandy and Kendra Castagna.
 
Taconic was led by Carly Decelles (25:57) in ninth. Drury’s Taylor Giron (27:37) was 30th. Mount Everett eighth-grader Janet Ngoyimwanza (28:10) placed 40th.
 
In the boys meet, Mount Greylock grabbed six spots in the top 10. After Arthur, Cameron Castonguay was third, and Sam Culver, Owen Brandriss, Josh Cheung and Jacob Fink were fifth through eighth, respectively.
 
Drury’s Connor Meehan was the runner-up, finishing in 17:43.
 
For Taconic, Ryan Serre placed ninth in 18:25. Pittsfield’s Greg Fournier (18:01) and Lucas Godwin were fourth and 10th, respectively.
 
For Mount Everett, Grayson Duvall placed 29th in 20:44.
