Pittsfield Boys, Girls Track and Field Top Taconic

CHESHIRE, Mass. -- Liz Swanson and Sarah Aitken picked up two wins apiece on the girls side, and Emmanuel Nda, Kevin D’Aniello and Connor Hayford were double winners for the boys as Pittsfield’s boys and girls track and field teams earned dual meet wins over Taconic on Thursday at Hoosac Valley High School.
 
Hayford won the javelin with a mark of 122 feet, 4 inches that was more than 18 feet ahead of the field and took the shot put with a throw of 38-3.5.
 
Nda swept the 100 (11.69 seconds) and 200 (23.73) and ran leadoff on PHS’s winning 4-by-100 relay quartet. He led off Pittsfield’s winning 4-by-400 relay.
 
D’Aniello swept the hurdles, winning the 110 in 17.20 and the 400 in 1:04.23.
 
In the girls meet, Aitken won the long jump (14-6) and triple jump (31-7.25). Swanson swept the 100 (14.22) and 200 (30.17) and ran anchor on the Generals’ winning 400 relay.
 
Taconic’s Lily Lobovits was the top individual at the meet, winning all three throws with marks of 29-3 in the shot, 86-0 in the discus and 84-5 in the javelin.
 
Taconic had a couple of double winners on the boys side: Brandon Pelkey in the mile (5:03.08) and two-mile (11:12.98) and Mohammed Ahmed in the long jump (20-1) and triple jump (41-4).
