Rooney, Fruet Lead Pittsfield High Bowlers to Victory

GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. -- Colby Rooney and Alex Fruet Friday led the Pittsfield bowling team to a 3-0 win over McCann Tech in the season-opener for the Berkshire County High School Bowling League.
 
Rooney tied for the high series at Cove Lanes with a 483 (248-235). Fruet had the fourth-highest series of the day (376) and the third-highest game.
 
Together, they helped the Generals hold off the Hornets, who got strong performances from Madison Moon and Aleasia Yeaton, who rolled the third and fourth best series, respectively, among the girls competing.
 
The top game and series of the day overall belonged to Lee's Adam Dingman, who rolled games of 278 and 205 for a 483 series.
 
His Wildcats split their match with the Wahconah Blue team
 
Wahconah took a 2-1 decision behind Alex White and Amber Wood.
 
Wood posted the top series among the girls (220-202--422) and the third best series overall behind Dingman and Rooney.
 
White had the third-best series among the boys with a 379 (197-182).
 
The top game among the girls on Friday belonged to Drury's Olivia Mazzacco, who rolled a 244, the third best game among all bowlers. She led the Blue Devils to a 3-0 win over Mount Everett.
 
In the day's other match, the Wahconah Grey squad beat Mount Greylock, 3-0.
 
On Thursday, the league is scheduled to bowl at Ken's in Pittsfield.
