Wahconah Edges Frontier in Pitchers Duel

SOUTH DEERFIELD, Mass. – James Rabuse and Tyler Dostie combined to scatter five hits Wednesday as the Wahconah baseball team beat Frontier, 3-2.
 
Rabuse struck out 14 in 5 and two-thirds innings before giving the ball to Dostie, who allowed one hit and no walks to close the game out.
 
Wahconah trailed, 2-1, going to the fifth inning.
 
Carter Drake and Dostie drew back-to-back one-out walks to start the top of the fifth. Joe Hoffman pinch ran for Drake and scored from second on Aidan Hagmaier’s groundout to the right side of the infield to tie the game, 2-2.
 
One inning later, Ben Barry was hit by a pitch to start the sixth and moved up on Dom Marcella’s sacrifice bunt.
 
With two out, Rabuse singled to left to drive in Barry and take the lead.
 
Rabuse ended up 2-for-4 with the RBI. Hagmaier drove in a pair of runs in a 1-for-3 day at the plate.
 
Wahconah (7-9) goes to Greenfield on Friday.
