SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — The Hoosac Valley girls lacrosse team Friday went out to a 13-0 half-time lead en route to a 14-7 win over Springfield Central.

Alie Mendel scored four goals and set up three more, and Claudia Bresett and Brooke DiGennaro each had a hat trick.

Emily Godfrey stopped five shots to earn the win.

“Today's game was our fourth this week, so when we took an early lead, our younger players gained valuable experience,” Hoosac Valley coach Molly Meczywor said. “Eighth-graders Riley Joy, Hannah Harding and Lauren Davis along with ninth-graders Karyssa Charon, Ellie Miles and Abi McCallister were invaluable.”

Hoosac Valley (7-0) hosts Hoosick Falls, N.Y., on Monday.
