CHESHIRE, Mass. – Kaitlyn Ondrick scored six goals Tuesday to lead the Pope Francis girls lacrosse team to an 18-11 win over Hoosac Valley.

Jacinta Felix and Emma Meczywor each scored five goals for the Hurricanes, and Cami Lavato stopped 12 shots in the Hoosac Valley goal in her first career varsity start.

“We made some critical errors on the defensive side as well as in transition which resulted in easy goals,” Hoosac Valley coach Molly West said. “However, we played all game and put in great effort and I'm proud we never gave up, including scoring three towards the end of the game. Our stats were improved from our first match up with Pope so that is promising.”

The Cardinals beat the Hurricanes, 22-14, when the teams met on April 11 in Springfield.

Hoosac Valley (5-3) travels to face Lee on Friday.
