Pittsfield Girls Lacrosse Falls to Smith Voc
NORTHAMPTON, Mass. – Erin Miller scored four goals Monday to lead the Smith Vocational girls lacrosse team to a 12-9 win over Pittsfield.
The Generals got 15 saves from LaNiyah Gregory, who went over the 200-save mark in her high school career.
But the Vikings made the most of their opportunities in the middle of the field to create scoring chances.
“We didn't play our best game, but Smith was a good team in transition and we struggled with the faster pace of the game,” PHS coach Molly West said. “We will need to be better in slowing teams down moving forward. In addition, our ground game hurt us today and losing possession on the ground led to quick transitions. We also need to get more girls involved offensively.”
Lily Ferris scored six goals and set up another to lead the Generals’ offense. Katie Irwin scored twice, and Rauri McDonald had a goal for Pittsfield.
The Generals (3-2) host Monson on Wednesday.
