WESTFIELD, Mass. – Dominic Perez scored 24 points, and the Westfield Tech boys basketball team Monday took control of the game in the third quarter en route to a 63-56 win over McCann Tech.

The Hornets (0-1) led, 30-26, at half-time, but the hosts outscored McCann Tech, 25-12, in that third quarter.

“It was a tough loss,” McCann Tech coach Chris Bullett said. “We missed too many free throws and had too many turnovers. Vernie Percy had a good game, and so did Zach Howland.”

Howland led the Hornets with 22 points. Percy scored 15.

McCann Tech plays its home opener on Thursday against Turners Falls.
