Berkshire Battalion Takes Third Straight From Danbury

DANBURY, Conn. -- For the second straight game, the Berkshire Battalion got a come-from-behind win on the road at its Federal Hockey League rival.
 
On Sunday, four different Berkshire player scored in a 4-1 win over Danbury to complete a three-game weekend sweep of the Whalers.
 
After the hosts scored in the third minute, Robert Morton tied it for Berkshire late in the first period.
 
Tyler Prendergast put the Battalion up, 2-1, midway through the second.
 
Mike McCurtain stretched the lead with a goal on Michael Dolman's second assist of the game early in the third.
 
Dolman then scored an empty net goal with 3 minutes, 17 seconds left.
 
Louie George made 51 saves. George leads the FHL in saves (1,220) and is third in save percentage (.906) this season.
 
With three wins this weekend, the Battalion has pulled to within 13 points of Danville for the fourth and final playoff spot in the six-team league.
 
Berkshire travels to Dayton on Friday and Danville for games on Saturday and Sunday next weekend.

Winter Storm Warning Issued for Berkshires

Another snowstorm is expected to move through the region overnight on Friday, bringing 5 to 8 inches of snow. This is updated from Thursday's winter weather advisory. 
 
The National Weather Service in Albany, N.Y., has posted a winter storm warning for all of Berkshire County and parts of eastern New York State beginning Friday at 4 p.m. through Saturday at 1 p.m. 
 
The region could see heavy to moderate snowfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour overnight, tapering off Saturday morning to flurries.
 
Drivers should exercise caution on Friday night and Saturday morning, as travel conditions may be hazardous.
 
Saturday night should be clear and calm, but warming temperatures means freezing rain Sunday night and rain through Monday with highs in the 40s. The forecast isn't much better through the week as temperatures dip back into the teens with New Year's Eve looking cloudy and frigid.
