
Pittsfield Babe Ruth 16s Win Opener at Regional
STAMFORD, Conn. – Aiden Arseneau went 2-for-3 with a double in a 13-hit attack for the Pittsfield Babe Ruth 16-year-old All-Stars as they opened the New England Regional with a 10-4 win over the Maine State Champions.
Kevin Smith was 2-for-4 with a double at the plate and went three innings on the mound, striking out five and not allowing a run.
Cooper Reed and Bryce Roff split the last four innings, combining to strike out seven between them.
Hoff also went 2-for-2 at the plate and scored four times for Pittsfield, which jumped out to a 7-0 lead with four runs in the bottom of the third inning.
Kydd Kearns and Jack Wendling also had a pair of hits in the win. Wendling drove in a team-high three runs.
Pittsfield improved to 1-0 in the three-team pool to open the tournament. On Saturday morning, it takes on Rhode Island Champion Warwick.
