PITTSFIELD, Mass. — CIAO of the Berkshires, a nonprofit organization dedicated to celebrating athletic achievement and supporting Berkshire County students, will host a Tribute to Coach Al Belanger on Sunday, Oct. 4, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Berkshire Hills Country Club.

 

The afternoon event will honor Coach Belanger's extraordinary and decades-long contributions to youth soccer and student development throughout Berkshire County.

 

Belanger has been a defining figure in Berkshire County soccer for generations.  A respected coach and mentor at Pittsfield High, he began his coaching career at St. Joseph's High School, where he built one of the region's most respected soccer programs and mentored countless student-athletes who went on to play at the collegiate level and beyond.

 

His impact extends well beyond the field — as a longtime Director and Hall of Fame Committee Chairman of CIAO of the Berkshires, Coach Belanger has spent years championing the next generation of athletes through scholarship presentations and Hall of Fame inductions. His tireless dedication to the youth of Berkshire County has shaped lives both on and off the pitch.

 

The tribute celebration will feature light snacks and a cash bar, offering guests the opportunity to share memories and express gratitude for Coach Belanger's lasting legacy. Former players, families, colleagues, and community members are warmly encouraged to attend and join in honoring a man whose passion for the game and commitment to his students has left an indelible mark on the Berkshire community.

 

Tickets for the Tribute to Coach Al Belanger are $25 and can be purchased in advance. Community members who wish to support this event but are unable to attend may make a donation.
