Pittsfield Figure Skating Club, Registration

Dalton CRA , Swimming Lessons Registration
Dates: • 08/22 through 09/05 at 9:00 am until 5:00 pm

The Dalton Community Recreation Association will begin registration for Fall/Winter Session I Swimming Lessons on August 22. Lessons run from September 6 – November 12, 2016 (10 weeks). A current CRA Jr. Membership ($40) is required and everyone must wear a swim cap.

The Dalton CRA offers a full range of swimming lessons including: Parent-Toddler (6 months to 3 years, parent needs to be in the pool with toddler); Pre-School (3-5 years, not in Kindergarten); Beginners (5 years and up); Beginners Deep End (5 years and up - no bubble); Advanced Beginners, Intermediate Swimmer and Advanced Swimmer. Cost for lessons is $60 plus Membership, Monday classes are 9 weeks at $54 plus membership. Parent Toddler lessons are $30 (plus membership).

Adult Learn-to-Swim class is also offered. Cost is $6 per class and a CRA Membership is not required.

Pittsfield YMCA, Free SilverSneakers classes

The Pittsfield Family YMCA announces free SilverSneakers classes for eligible seniors from now until September 30, 2016.

Funded by a grant from the Elder Services of Berkshire County, Inc. and the Massachusetts Executive Office of Elder Affairs, the Y’s SilverSneakers classes strive to increase heart-healthy endurance, muscle strength, balance and coordination to reduce injuries and falls. Specifically designed for seniors, the classes allow people of all ages to meet new friends, reconnect with others and try something new.

SilverSneakers Classic meets Mondays-Wednesdays, 9:30-10:45 a.m. and Thursdays, 1:30-2:45 p.m.  Have fun and move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of movement and activities for daily living. Hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles and a SilverSneakers ball are offered for resistance. A chair is available if needed for seated or standing support

SilverSneakers Circuit meets Fridays, 9:30-10:30 a.m. Get moving with an aerobics class that’s safe, heart-healthy and gentle on the joints. The workout includes easy-to-follow low-impact movement, and upper-body strength, abdominal conditioning, stretching and relaxation exercises designed to energize your active lifestyle.

Eligible seniors must be at least 60 years old. Preference will be given to low-income seniors. To participate, visit the Y at 292 North Street to receive 2 free passes to SilverSneakers classes with the possibility of continued free guest access until September 30, 2016.
