Banjo Dan's Bluegrass Coming To Bennington

12:00AM / Monday, June 19, 2006

One of New England's most exciting acoustic bands, Banjo Dan and the Mid-nite Plowboys, will present a concert of original and traditional bluegrass music at the Bennington Center for the Arts on Saturday, July 8.

The show, beginning at 8:00PM, will feature old and new country songs, gospel quartets, instrumental showpieces, and finely-crafted original numbers.

The Plowboys have been a top draw throughout the Northeast for more than thirty years, have released 10 recordings, and have several overseas tours to their credit. The upcoming concert will mark their return to Bennington for the first time in several years.

"The Center for the Arts offers an outstanding performance space and we're thrilled to be getting back there for a show," says the group's namesake, "Banjo Dan" Lindner. "There's nothing like live music, and we're primed to bring the folks in Bennington an evening of top-flight entertainment."

Bluegrass, a true American "roots" music, is experiencing one of its periodic upsurges in popularity, and Banjo Dan and the Mid-nite Plowboys find themselves in demand all around the Northeast. They'll be coming to town with a ton of talent, a world of experience, a new CD, and a whole batch of new songs.

The Plowboys' energy and drive, warmth and humor engage audiences wherever they play. Be prepared for some blazing instrumental work, soulful lead singing, and soaring harmonies, plus plenty of tongue-in-cheek commentary. Simply put, Banjo Dan and the Mid-nite Plowboys are poised to deliver on of the best bluegrass shows you're likely to hear in these parts.

The Bennington Center for the Arts is located on Route 9 just west of the village center. The grounds include art galleries housed with a first-class theater, plus a remarkable Covered Bridge Museum.

"We've always had lots of friends and fans around Bennington and southern Vermont" says Dan. " It's our only show in the area this summer. We’ll be looking for you."

Tickets are just $12 in advance until the day before the concert. They are available at the Bennington Center for the Arts or at the Bennington Bookshop. The day of the concert, July 8 tickets will be $15 and will be available at the Art Center up until showtime at 8:00 P.M.
