NBH Tournament Raises Record-Setting Revenue

12:00AM / Saturday, July 01, 2006

North Adams-The 13th Annual NBH Open Golf Tournament, sponsored by Williamstown Savings Bank, raised $73,240 for Northern Berkshire Healthcare's Annual Appeal, Bill Greenwald, chairman of the NBH
Development Committee, announced.

In the health system's most successful tournament ever, one hundred fifty-six golfers played on a beautiful late spring afternoon at Waubeeka Golf Links in Williamstown on Friday, June 16.

This year's tournament benefited the purchase of new digital X-Ray equipment for North Adams Regional Hospital's E. Wayne Wilkins Emergency Department.

The expanded Emergency Department is due to be completed this fall, along with the hospital's new Family Birthing Center. They are the final components of the hospital's $22 million renovation project.

"Williamstown Savings Bank's contribution once again made this event a record-setting success," said Greenwald. "The bank's $15,000 sponsorship of the golf tournament allowed us to offer a fun, top-notch tournament while raising more than $73,000 for local health care - the most we have ever raised through this event."

Williamstown Savings Bank president Stephen Crowe said the bank
was pleased to support the tournament again and help NBH and NARH provide excellent health care services to everyone in our community.

"Maintaining high quality, locally based health care is crucial for our community and our local economy," said Crowe. "Speaking on behalf of everyone at Williamstown Savings Bank and MountainOne Financial Partners, we want to do our part to ensure that NARH and the rest of our local healthcare system are as strong and vibrant as they can be."

Northern Berkshire Healthcare CEO and President Richard Palmisano
offered his personal thanks to the sponsor.

"The hospital is very appreciative of the bank's long-standing commitment, and on behalf of all of the employees of NARH, I want to say thank you. This was a tremendous effort that everyone put forth, and it produced incredible results."

Over fifty different sponsors supported this year's event.

Tournament sponsors included lead sponsor Williamstown Savings Bank; dinner sponsor Digiorgio Associates & Monitor Builders; reception sponsor FTI Cambio Health Solutions; beverage cart sponsor SEI Investments; volunteer sponsor Baxter Healthcare; lunch sponsor Nassif's Professional Pharmacy; cart sponsors Sodexho USA and Developer Finance Corporation; printing sponsor Steepleview Realty; and hole-in-one sponsors Haddad Dealerships of the Berkshires and Smith Bros. - McAndrews Insurance.

The event also benefited from the generosity of thirty-eight different local businesses that served as tee sponsors as well.

Other thanks are extended to Shine Wire, Sweet Brook Transitional Care and Living Centers, Delftree Corporation, TaylorMade/Adidas, and Waubeeka Golf Course.

"We also wish to thank everyone who took part in the tournament
this year," said Golf Committee co-chairs Donald Keagan and Sue Anair. "The members of our committee, Williamstown Savings Bank, our business sponsors, and every individual golfer can take pride in the fact that we raised money to improve the services of our local hospital."

Members of the NBH Golf Tournament Committee include Keagan and Anair as co-chairs; Stephen Eddy, Nick Flynn, Mike Goodwin, Bill Greenwald, Paul Hopkins, Steve Iacuessa, Duffy Judge, Bruce McAndrews, Chip Moore, Jeff Polucci, Kim Raftery, and Nancy Spencer.
