Laura Yang is a visiting scholar at MCLA
North Adams – Laura Yang, a visiting scholar at Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts, will discuss “China – A Culture and Economy in Transition,” on Friday, March 30th, at 3 p.m. in Murdock Hall, room 218, from 3p.m. to 5 p.m..

The event is free and open to the public.

In her lecture, Yang will discuss Chinese economic achievements as China has reformed and opened up to the outside world, the Sino-American trade relationship, China’s business environment, as well as jobs and education in China. A professor in transport and logistics and the head of the logistics department in the International Business School at the Shanghai Institute of Foreign Trade, Yang also will talk about Shanghai and the
Institute.

At MCLA, Yang teaches a business administration class on contemporary
economic issues in China, as part of an exchange program between the
College and the Institute.

Yang’s visiting professorship is part of a co-sponsorship agreement between MCLA, Shanghai Institute of Foreign Trade, the Sage Colleges and SUNY of New York. The agreement was created to promote educational, economic and institutional exchanges between the institutions.

Yang is the author of the China International Business Publishing House textbook, “Introduction to Modern Logistics Management.” Her experience in the logistics industry includes the delivery of numerous practical executive management programs and work with a Taiwan trading company in computer wholesaling.

She also has worked as a consultant at companies such as the Shanghai Foreign Service Company and the Nielson Consulting Company in Shanghai, where she handled projects for multinational companies, including UniLever and Johnson & Johnson.
