Florence L. Bishop, 84
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Florence L. Bishop, 84, a former longtime resident of Stamford, Vt., and more lately of Mohawk Trail, died Thursday, Oct. 16, 2014, at North Adams Commons, where she has resided since 2011.Born in North Adams on Oct. 6, 1930, daughter of William and Mary Louise Cheney O'Neil, she attended local schools, including Drury High School.
Mrs. Bishop had been employed by the former First National and A&P supermarkets. She had worked in the office at A&P and retired from its Pittsfield location.
Her husband, Donald K. Bishop, whom she married on Nov. 17, 1947, died April 25, 2011.
She leaves two daughters, Gail Miller and her husband, Paul, of Cheshire and Lois Filiault of North Adams; two sisters, Grace Scarfone and Frances "Shirley" Unsworth; five grandchildren, Doreen Dix and her husband, Michael, of Plainville, Chad Wagenknecht and his wife, Carolyn, of Savoy and Cristobal Filiault, Keith Filiault and Jennifer Filiault, all of North Adams; three great-grandchildren, Maegan Dix, Michael Dylan Dix and Matthew Dix all of Plainville and two sisters-in-law, Susan Cancro and Madeline O'Neil.
She was predeceased by her brother, William O'Neil, in 1987.
FUNERAL NOTICE — A graveside service for Mrs. Bishop will be held at the convenience of the family.
There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to North Adams Commons Patient Activities Fund in care of Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals Central Chapel, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, MA 01247.
