Thanks to the Nation's Nurses

05-06-2009

To the Editor:

National Nurses Week is May 6 through 12. We are proud of our caring and compassionate registered nurses and licensed practical nurses, who are found in all health-care settings, schools, and homes ministering to the sick and promoting wellness in our community.

Nurses are the eyes and ears for the physician when he or she is not present, using excellent assessment skills and the latest research on best practice standards of care delivery.

Nurses are invited into the inner sanctum of patients' lives — celebrating the birth of a new baby, providing comfort and education prior to a test or surgical procedure, and assisting at the end of life with comfort measures and saying goodbye.

Please join Northern Berkshire Healthcare as we celebrate the exceptional nursing team at North Adams Regional Hospital, Sweet Brook Transitional Care and Living Centers, Sweetwood, and the VNA and Hospice of Northern Berkshire. We are so proud of the exceptional health care from the heart that our nurses provide every single day.

Sincerely,

Billie Allard, RN, MS
Vice president of patient care
Northern Berkshire Healthcare
