Wanda C. Wojtaszek, 83

ADAMS, Mass. — Wanda C. Wojtaszek, 83, of Adams died on Sunday, February 5, 2017, at her home after a brief illness.

She was born in Adams on May 15, 1933, a daughter of the late Joseph and Jessie (Armata) Wojtaszek. She attended schools in Adams, including St. Stanislaus Elementary, and graduated from the former Adams High School with the class of 1950. She then went on to receive her Bachelor's Degree from Our Lady of the Elms College in 1954.

She first taught at C.T. Plunkett Elementary School in Adams after college, and then moved into the insurance field, beginning with the former McAndrews Insurance, Adams, and later the former John Hancock Insurance Office in North Adams until retiring after 28 years. An early retirement allowed for her to care for her parents as their needs grew.

She was a communicant of the Parish of St. John Paul II at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, where she had been a longtime member of the St. Cecelia Choir. She was also a member of the Adams Camera Club, where she earned many awards. The Adams Town Hall had exhibited her winning photos.

She was an avid Boston Red Sox fan, having been introduced to the sport by her mother in the mid 40s. She had also cheered for the New York Giants with her father every Sunday afternoon. Besides enjoying photography, Wanda also enjoyed horseback riding and vacationing for years at ranches in Colorado, Wyoming, North Dakota and New Mexico.

She is survived by her sister, Mary Ann Wojtaszek of Adams; her brother Joseph Wojtaszek and his wife Mary of Falls Church, Va.; as well as many cousins whom she cherished.

Funeral notice: The funeral will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2017, at 9 a.m. from the Paciorek Funeral Home, 13 Hoosac St., Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, celebrated by Rev. Steven Montesanti, Pastor. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Adams.

Calling hours are Friday, February 10, 2017, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to St. Stanislaus Kostka School, 108 Summer St., Adams, MA 01220 or to At Home TLC, Inc. 10 Holden St., North Adams, MA 01247.
