Rachel Tatro, 93

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. —  Rachel Blanche (Rondeau) Tatro, 93 of North Adams, MA died on Sunday April 14, 2024 at Berkshire Medical Center. She was born in Stamford, VT on November 6, 1930, a daughter of Oliver Francis Rondeau and Leonie Antoinette (Rougeau) Rondeau. She attended schools in Stamford.

Rachel was first employed by the former Model Laundry and Berkshire Fine Spinning. She then worked for Sprague Electric Co for 32 years until her retirement in 1993. Rachel was a communicant of the former St. Francis of Assisi Church. She was a member of the Sprague Quarter Century Club and the Sprague Retirees.

She was the widow of Joseph Mark Tatro who died on September 21, 2005. They were married on January 8, 1949.

Survivors include two sons, Joseph Henry (Beverly) Tatro Sr of North Adams and Theodore Mark (Charlene) Tatro of Stamford, VT. She also leaves three grandchildren, Joseph H. Tatro Jr, James M. Tatro and Rebecca A. Buck; six great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren; one sister, Theresa Dix and one brother, Daniel Rondeau and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She was predeceased by her seven brothers and two sisters including Doris Roberts, Cecile Pratt, Joseph Rondeau, Ernest Rondeau, Wilfred Rondeau, Felix Rondeau, Oliver Rondeau, Francis “Pete” Rondeau and Thomas Rondeau.

We’ll miss Rachael’s smiling face. She was our very favorite neighbor and she was always so proud of her flowers and vegetable gardens. (Even though Joe had to fight off the deer every year.) may Rachael rest in peace with “Old Joe.”

We were so sad to hear of Rachel's passing. What a wonderful kind and caring woman she was. She was always happy to be with her family and loved to chat about her grandchildren, and especially her great grandchildren. You knew she was so proud of them. Our deepest sympathy to you all.
