Warren F. Baker, 95
CLARKSBURG, Mass. â€' Warren Ford Baker, 95, of River Road died Tuesday, April 9, 2013.
Born in North Adams on Oct. 26, 1917, son of Ralph and Mary Ford Baker, he attended Clarksburg schools and Drury High School in North Adams.
Mr. Baker was last employed as a teacher in the automotive department of McCann Technical School in North Adams until his retirement in 1984. Before that, he was the owner of Baker's Garage in Clarksburg.
He was a 77-year member of First Baptist Church in North Adams, where he was active in many of its functions. He was a member of the Lafayette Lodge of Masons and held many positions in the civic, political, and community life in Clarksburg.
His wife, the former Ruth M. McKay, whom he married on June 28, 1941, died on March 22, 2002.
He leaves a daughter, Brenda Gabel and her husband, Kurt, of Williamstown; a son, Dwight Baker of Marshfield, Vt.; a sister, Hellen Luscia of North Adams; four grandchildren, Kristy Camp and her husband, Douglas, of Essex, Kurt Gabel and his wife, Madeline Fletcher, of Beacon, N.Y., Kara Baker of Maineville, Ohio, and Jill Baker of Lebanon, Ohio; three great-grandchildren, Anneliese and Ellaina Camp and Alice Gabel; a sister-in-law, Betty Mancuso of Leesburg, Fla., and nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his siblings Stanley Baker and Thelma Horahan, and by his daughter-in-law Mary M. Baker.
FUNERAL NOTICE â€' A memorial service for Mr. Baker will be held on Saturday, April 20, at 11 at First Baptist Church of North Adams. Private burial will be in Eastlawn Cemetery in Williamstown.
