Joseph F. Greenbush Jr., 80

ADAMS, Mass. — Joseph F. Greenbush Jr., 80, of 2 Arnold Ave. died early Thursday morning, June 11, 2015, at his home. Born in Adams on March 11, 1935, son of Joseph and Margaret Liszka Greenbush, he attended Adams schools, and graduated from the former Adams High School with the class of 1953. He later entered Suffolk University in Boston, where he held dual majors in mathematics and psychology, and graduated with a bachelor of science degree in 1962. An Air Force veteran, he served from 1954 until his honorable discharge in 1957, including during the Korean War. Mr. Greenbush was employed by the former General Electric in Pittsfield, retiring from its Ordnance Division in 1991. Following his retirement, he worked at Tanglewood in Lenox as a supervisor for gatekeeping staff until 2012. He was a trustee of the Adams Free Library, and volunteered his time and talent to the Zoning Board of Appeals, the St. John Paul II Charity Center, and the Council on Aging, where he would assist seniors in tax preparation. While living in Cheshire for several years, he had been a communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption Church and was a member of the Cheshire Planning Board. He enjoyed working with computers, cross country skiing, reading, bird watching and sports, especially hockey. He mostly enjoyed time spent with family and his grandchildren, and being the "Commissioner" of Joe, Roy & Jimmy's Thursday Breakfast Club. He and his wife, the former Marie C. Picciuto, were married on Oct. 12, 1963. Besides his wife of 51 years, he leaves four daughters, Linda Cernik and her husband, Scott, of Adams, Lisa Greenbush and her late companion, Ron Boody Jr., of Cheshire, Jennifer Montalto and her husband, Joseph, of Rocky Hill, Conn., and Marybeth Degen and her husband, Marty, of Suffield, Conn.; six grandchildren, Daniel Cernik, Anna and Maggie Montalto, and JJ, Lucas and Leah Degen, and several nieces and nephews . FUNERAL NOTICE — Funeral services for Mr. Greenbush will be held on Saturday, June 20, at noon at Paciorek Funeral Home, 13 Hoosac St., Adams. The Rev. David R. Raymond, pastor of St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Cheshire, will officiate. Burial will be at a later date in Bellevue Cemetery, Adams. Calling hours will be Saturday morning from 10 until the time of the service, at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the Roy Thompson Scholarship Fund, which awards scholarships to students pursuing careers in veterinary medicine, in care of Greylock Federal Credit Union, 2 Park St. Adams, MA 01220.
