William A. Duquette, 54

FLORIDA, Mass. — William A. Duquette, 54, of 148 Mohawk Trail died Friday, March 28, 2003, at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield.
Born in Pittsfield on Feb. 5, 1949, son of Walter A. Duquette Sr. and Doris M. LaBonte Duquette, he attended schools in North Adams, including Charles H. McCann Technical School. He was a member of the National Guard, based in North Adams.
Mr. Duquette was employed by the Massachusetts Highway Department. He and his family owned and operated the former Smurf Putt Stop and also Diversions Family Center in North Adams.
He also worked for Tom Ayotte Construction and Rider Trucking companies and GE in Pittsfield and Schenectady, N.Y., for several years.
He and his wife, the former Susan Moreau, were married July 30, 1953, in Adams.
Besides his wife, he leaves a daughter, Shereen Girard of North Adams; four sons, William A. Duquette Jr. of the state of Alabama, Craig Duquette and Christopher Duquette, both of North Adams, and Richie Duquette of Florida; six sisters, Lorraine Bentley of North Adams, Ruth Skiffington of Snowcamp, N.C., Annette Talbot of Adams, and Linda DelRatez, Dawn Wilson and Janet Duquette, all of Corning, N.Y.; six brothers, Arthur Duquette of Burlington, N.C., Raymond Duquette and John Duquette, both of Adams, Edward J. Duquette of Cheshire, Walter Duquette Jr. of the state of Florida, and James Duquette of Corning, four grandchildren, Bailee Duquette, Jacob Duquette, Brittany Ruebesam and Craig Duquette Jr., and two stepgrandchildren, David and Corey Girard.
He was predeceased by a sister, Ellen Duquette.
FUNERAL NOTICE — Services for Mr. Duquette will take place Wednesday at 11 at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St.
Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. Memorial donations are suggested for the charity of the donor's choice through the funeral home.
He was the beloved Poppa of Bailee Duquette, Jacob Duquette, Brittany Ruebesam and Craig Duquette Jr.
