Valida Columbus Loszynski, 92

ADAMS, Mass. — Valida Columbus Loszynski, 92, of 75 Commercial St. died Tuesday afternoon, March 9, 2004, at North Adams Commons. Born in North Adams on June 3, 1911, daughter of William and Roseanna Martin Duverney, she attended the former St. Joseph's elementary and high schools, and moved to Adams in 1969. Mrs. Loszynski was employed by the former Wall-Streeter Shoe Co. in North Adams, retiring after 45 years of service. She was a communicant of St. Stanislaus' Church. Her first husband, Nelson Columbus, whom she married in 1937, died in 1964. Her husband, Matthew "Spike" Loszynski, whom she married on Aug. 29, 1969, died Nov. 28, 2001. She leaves a daughter, Frances Loszynski of Providence, R.I., and three sisters, Florence Carsno of Baton Rouge, La., Mary Lefebvre of Williamstown and Dorothy Trimarchi of North Adams, and nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Wilfred and Leo Duverney, and a sister, Anna Braman. FUNERAL NOTICE — The funeral for Mrs. Loszynski will be Saturday at 9:15 from Auge-Paciorek-Simmons Funeral Home, 13 Hoosac St., Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church by the Rev. Daniel J. Boyle, pastor of the Parishes of St. Stanislaus Kostka and Notre Dame-St. Thomas Aquinas. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery, North Adams. Calling hours will be Friday from 5 to 7 at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the St. Patrick's and St. Raphael's Parish Food Pantry, Williamstown, through the funeral home.

I didn't realize that my stepmother thought of me as her daughter. I wish I had visited with her more. I did love her.
