Dorothy R. Porio, 73
ADAMS, Mass. — Dorothy Rose Porio, 73, of 48 Melrose St. died in her sleep Wednesday morning, Feb. 1, 2006, at North Adams Regional Hospital.
Born in Adams on April 15, 1932, daughter of Walter and Rose Brendza Wnuk, she attended Adams schools and graduated from the former Adams High School in 1949.
Mrs. Porio was employed for 35 years as a production worker for the former Sprague Electric Co. in North Adams. Prior to that, she had worked at the former Berkshire Fine Spinning Associates.
She was a communicant of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Adams. As a young woman, she was a member of the Adams Turners gymnastics team. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, sewing, crossword puzzles and spending time with her grandchildren.
She leaves two sons, James M. Porio of Adams and Thomas A. Porio of Springfield; two daughters, Barbara J. Porio, with whom she made her home, and Teresa M. Gamache of Adams; four brothers, Donald Wnuk, Walter Wnuk and William Wnuk, all of Adams, and Thomas Wnuk of New Hampshire; four sisters, Elaine Puppolo, Victoria Morin, Rose Konopka and Nancy Jamros, all of Adams; six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
She also leaves her former husband, Jeremiah J. Porio of the state of Florida, whom she married on Nov. 15, 1952.
A son, David J. Porio, predeceased her.
FUNERAL NOTICE — Funeral services for Dorothy Rose Porio, who died Feb., 1, 2006, will be held at noon Saturday from AUGE-PACIOREK-SIMMONS Funeral Home, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 12:30 p.m. in St. Stanislaus' Church, with Rev. Daniel J. Boyle, pastor of the Catholic Parishes of Adams, officiating.
Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery, Adams. Calling hours from 11:30 to noon Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the Five P Minus Society, P.O. Box 268, Lakewood, CA 90714.
