Henry 'Andy' Benedetti, 86
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Henry "Andy" Benedetti, 86, of 98 Brickyard Court died Sunday, July 1, 2001, at North Adams Regional Hospital.
Born in Rowe on Feb. 20, 1915, son of Severino and Elizabeth Rosa Bertholdi Benedetti, he attended elementary school in the town of Florida and attended Arms Academy in Shelburne Falls. He had resided in North Adams since 1930.
Mr. Benedetti was employed by the Boston & Maine Railroad for 47 years, retiring in 1977.
He was a member of First Baptist Church, the North Adams Retired Men's Club, Stamford Valley (Vt.) Golf Club, the Greylock Seniors Bowling League, Harper Center Bridge Club, Mystic Valley Railway Society and the Hairpin Turners. He was a former trustee of Camp Ashmere in Hinsdale.
He leaves his wife, the former Doris C. Bingham, whom he married Sept. 16, 1939; two sons, Henry C. Benedetti of Atlanta and Craig B. Benedetti of Laguna Beach, Calif.; four sisters, Ermenia Zocchi, Alma Benedetti, Dosalena Law and Mary Caffrey, all of North Adams; a brother, Rudolph Benedetti of Savoy; a stepbrother, Henry Bertholdi of Ballston Spa, N.Y.; a stepsister, Alma Kent of North Adams; two grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE — Services for Mr. Benedetti will be conducted Friday at 10:30 at First Baptist Church in North Adams by Pastor Joseph H. DeCosta. Burial will follow in Eastlawn Cemetery, Williamstown. Calling hours will be Thursday from 5 to 8 at AUGE-SAN SOUCIE-SIMMONS FUNERAL HOME, North Adams. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in his memory be made to the Carillon Bell Fund at First Baptist Church through the funeral home, 46 North Church St., North Adams, MA 01247.
