Angelina A. Damiano, 95
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Angelina A. Damiano, 95, of 78 Apple Ridge Road, West Springfield, formerly of North Adams, died Sunday, March 18, 2007, at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield.
Born in North Adams on Feb. 2, 1912, daughter of Carmine and Giuseppina Esposito Mangano, she attended schools in North Adams.
Mrs. Damiano was employed by the former Sprague Electric Co. for more than 25 years, retiring in 1975. Before that, she worked at the former Wall-Streeter Shoe Co. and the former Gale Shoe Co.
She was a communicant of St. Anthony's Church and, while in West Springfield, attended St. Thomas' Church. She was a member of the Sprague Quarter Century Club and the Sprague Retirees. She enjoyed reading sewing and baking and was well-known for her cakes.
Her husband, Joseph Paul Damiano, whom she married June 7, 1930, in St. Anthony's Church, died Feb. 9, 2003.
She leaves a daughter, Phyllis Sacco and her husband, Anthony, of West Springfield; two sisters, Mary LaDame and Josephine Trimarchi of North Adams; four grandchildren, with whom she enjoyed spending time, Dr. Anthony Sacco of Bow, N.H., and Mary Sweeney, Joseph Sacco and Michael Sacco, all of West Springfield; six great-grandchildren and nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Three sisters and four brothers are deceased: Catherine Giorgenti, Carmela Mangano, Annie Caprari and John, Thomas, Frank and Salvatore "Sammy" Mangano.
FUNERAL NOTICE — The funeral for Angelina A. Damiano, who died Sunday, March 18, 2007, will be tomorrow at 10:15 a.m. from FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, CENTRAL CHAPELS, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, followed by a funeral Mass at 11 at St. Anthony's Church.
Burial will be in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours will be at the funeral home today from 5 to 7 p.m. Donations may be made to St. Thomas the Apostle School in care of the funeral home.
