Mario J. Angeli, 78

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. - Mario Joseph "Mac" Angeli, 78, of 40 Frederick St. died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2008, at North Adams Regional Hospital after a short illness. Born in North Adams on Sept. 14, 1929, son of Joseph and Maria Santorum Angeli, he attended Drury High School. He was an Air Force veteran. Mr. Angeli was employed by General Electric Co. in Pittsfield in the plant security division from 1956 to 1988,, attaining the rank of lieutenant. From 1949 to 1956, he was employed by the former Faustini's Texaco Station. He was a communicant of St. Francis' Church and a founding member of its Adoration Group. He was a member of the Berkshire County Deputy Sheriffs' Association and of the Northern Berkshire Retired Men's Club and its bowling league. He was a former member of the Elks Cribbage Club and the Sons of Italy. A golfer, he was a longtime member of Waubeeka Golf Links in Williamstown. He was a fan of the New York Yankees and, in his younger years, enjoyed hunting and fishing. He and his wife, the former Mary P. Angeli, were married Oct. 13, 1951, in St. Thomas' Church in Adams. Besides his wife, he leaves two daughters, Kathleen Stewart of Charlotte, N.C., and Jean Noel and her husband, Keith, of Pownal, Vt.; a sister, Angelina Giusti of North Adams; four sisters-in-law, Iris Angeli of Williamstown, Sheila Ferryall of Dalton, Kathleen Jerome and her husband, William, of Pittsfield, and Norma Davis and her husband, Edward, of Pittsfield, and nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
